ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION FOR THE DESIGN, SUPERVISION, AND QUALITY CONTROL OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL CENTER OF BENI MELLAL – 2ND PRIZE

architect:
ZAKIA DAHANI
date:
2025

The Regional Hospital Center of Beni Mellal is conceived as an urban catalyst, initiating a dynamic with broad local impact. Through its architectural expression, the facility is designed to be both highly accessible and clearly identifiable within its urban context. The project is organized into distinct, regular geometric volumes articulated around a central triangular core. This core is separated from the building’s wings by two distinct circulation paths: a protected medical corridor on one side, and a public ambulatory circulation on the other.

Overall, the interplay of solid and void, along with the orthogonal pattern of the screen elements (mashrabiyas), is carefully employed to ensure seamless integration into the site’s landscaped environment.

Finally, a series of interior courtyards and skylights introduce natural light and ventilation throughout the facility, contributing to the environmental quality of interior spaces while introducing a degree of porosity to the otherwise compact massing of the building.
