DEVELOPMENT OF A SOCIAL HOUSING COMPLEX IN DAKHLA

architect:
ZAKIA DAHANI
date:
2025

Set within a remarkable environment, the project’s architecture asserts a human-centered approach and seamless integration into its site. It draws generously from the intrinsic qualities of the context, becoming a key element of the project’s architectural identity and branding.

The architectural language is inspired by local vernacular architecture, establishing a unifying thread between the project and its surroundings while conveying a strong and distinguished identity:

  • Paint tones ranging from beige to ochre, evoking the color of desert sand;
  • Framed openings enhancing depth and rhythm;
  • Tall, narrow windows to minimize solar exposure;
  • A mashrabiya screen featuring a diamond-based motif typical of the Dakhla region, recalling traditional local geometric ornamentation;
  • Decorative patterns carved into the plaster at the upper levels of the façades.

The result is an architecture rooted in sobriety, clarity, and order. The design is based on clean, interlocking lines that create a carefully composed interplay of volumes and a coherent ensemble. The overall image is elegant and contemporary, ensuring strong visual consistency and contextual resonance within the site.
