Renovation and Biohabitability of the Vocational Training Department Headquarters in Rabat

architect:
ZAKIA DAHANI
date:
2025

The project features a vegetated double-skin façade that enhances the building’s thermal performance, acoustic insulation, and thermal inertia.

This system enables passive temperature regulation through evapotranspiration, thereby mitigating the urban heat island effect. Air quality is improved through the filtration of fine particles by the plant layer.

The façade consists of a modular, perforated double skin mounted on a vegetated metal framework. This bioclimatic system functions as a natural sunshade, with vegetation reaching its full height in the summer months to shield offices and workspaces from intense daytime heat, while shedding most of its foliage in winter to maximize solar gain within interior spaces.
